Doxycycline – The bacteria killer
Doxycycline is a medicine which fights bacteria in the body. It is a tetracycline antibiotic. It treats bacterial infections like Chlamydia, urinary tract, acne and gum disease. It is used to treat acne- like lesions, blemishes, bumps caused by the bacteria named rosacea. It lessens the effect of birth control pills. You should complete the course of Doxycycline as prescribed and skipping doses can lead relapse of the infection. Doxycycline and its intake procedure

It should not be taken with any dairy products, unless prescribed by the doctor. Dairy products or milk makes absorbing of the medicine slower. If you want to have doxycycline with milk, there are certain brands of it which is available and can be taken with milk. However, for this you need to get prescribed by the doctor. You are supposed to take the pill as whole and it is not recommendable to take doxycycline tablet in open or crushed form. The breakage of the pill damages the coating of the medicine.
Side effects of Doxcycycline
Some of the common side effects of doxycycline are fever, dizziness, blurred vision, and unusual urinal flow, watery or bloody diarrhea, and jaundice, loss of appetite, severe skin reaction, upset stomach, vaginal discharge or itching. You should immediately stop the medicine, consult the doctor, and make aware of your condition. Patients should avoid excessive sunlight as well as artificial ultraviolet light when treated with doxycycline. It may result in growth of fungus or yeast, nonsusceptible organisms. These infections can be resisted with antimicrobial treatment at times and in certain cases, colectomy is recommended as an alternative treatment.
Doxycycline is a drug which helps in treating many types of infections. The adult and pediatric doses are different. This medicine should be kept away from direct sunlight and taken with proper cautions and proper medical guidance. It is clinically not recommended to be taken by pregnant women or during breastfeeding. It causes life-threatening problems if the patient suffers from any kind of liver or heart disease. Therefore, you should be careful taking doxycycline.
